Beyonce consulted Gwyneth Paltrow before dropping surprise album

Gwyneth Paltrow got access to best friend Beyonce's surprise new album and music videos far ahead of anyone else.

The R&B star stunned fans in December, 2013, when she unexpectedly dropped her highly-guarded fifth studio album, a simultaneous audio-visual record, with no prior promotion.

The self-titled LP quickly topped music charts, but while fans were left in shock over the startling move, one person who wasn't as surprised was Gwyneth, as she was given insider information long before Beyonce released the record.

"She played me the video for this song so she played me a bunch of videos before the album dropped," Gwyneth revealed to actor John Benjamin Hickey on his SiriusXM radio show. "I had been with her a lot when she was working on it. I knew the general plan of what she was going to do. I knew there was going to be a surprise."

And Gwyneth also admitted one of the tracks from that album, Drunk In Love, has quickly become one of her favourite tracks of all time, saying, "I never get sick of this song. A song that has this much vibe, I mean I get chills from this song. It makes you want to move."

The Oscar winner also praised her daughter Apple's personal music idol, Taylor Swift, who was kind enough to meet with the actress and the young fan during a stop on her recent 1989 World Tour.

"I love her. She's very savvy," Gwyneth said of Taylor. "She keeps her clothes on. She writes her own music. She has good values. She's a good girl. I like her.

"It was my first experience of experiencing my daughter completely swept up in something that was her own thing. It was her own experience. I wasn't bringing her. She was bringing me. She knew every single word to every deep cut on 1989. I just stood there watching her watch Taylor Swift."
