Blake Shelton rendered speechless by Hall of Fame exhibit

Country music star Blake Shelton was lost for words while viewing his new exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Executives at the museum and research centre in Nashville, Tennessee launched the Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story display last month (May16), and the singer has been struggling to express his gratitude ever since - because it's such a big deal.

"This is the craziest thing that has ever happened for me," he told a crowd of supporters while speaking at the institution on Monday (06Jun16), according to Rolling Stone Country. "All I know is, the one thing I started out doing in 1994 when I moved to Nashville was keeping my eye on what I felt like - and still do - is the prize, and I wanted to be a country singer. No matter how much they throw at you, no matter what they say, what they do, that’s all I’ve ever cared about. I’ve just kept my head down and kept trying for this thing, and I still feel like I’m trying right now."

"That’s why I guess it's weird for me to stop for one second and go, 'Holy s**t, there’s an exhibit at the Hall of Fame about what I’ve been doing all this time?'" he added. "That’s why, for the first time I guess, I feel a little speechless, because I still feel like... hopefully I’m still at the beginning of this thing, and you’re probably not doing your job right if you don’t feel that way."

Blake Shelton: Based on a True Story contains personal items collected from his rise to stardom, including the swivel chair he sits in while judging U.S. singing competition The Voice, the various awards he has collected over the years and his first ever royalty cheque, which totalled just $2.73 (£1.88).

The 39-year-old's exhibit is the latest in a series of displays about the new superstars of country. These have included peers like his ex-wife Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Keith Urban, and Dierks Bentley.

Fans can view Blake's exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame until November (16).
