NewsSeptember, 6 Green Day are returning to the UK as they announce new tour datesPunk band Green Day have announced their first tour dates in the UK in three years. The American Idiot rockers will play three arena shows in the UK in February 2017, following a number of dates across Europe. Green Day will play Leeds’ First Direct Arena on February 5, before heading to the Manchester Arena on February 6 and London’s O2 Arena on February 8. The last time the band, fronted by lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, performed in the UK was in 2013 at the Reading and Leeds festivals. The announcement comes ahead the release of Green Day’s 12th studio album Revolution Radio, which is available to buy from October 7. The record’s lead single Bang Bang, based on the culture of mass shooting in America, was previously released to a warm critical reception from fans. Green Day was formed by Billie Joe in the mid-1980s along with bassist Mike Dirnt. Over the past three decades, they have achieved global success, with two UK number one albums as well as five Grammy Awards and two Brit Awards among many other accolades.
