NewsDecember, 30 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle release first podcast after mega '£30m' Spotify dealPrince Harry and Meghan Markle called upon their showbiz pals to help kick off their reported £30m Spotify deal. Sir Elton John and James Corden were just two of the stars to support the pair as their famous friends helped out with its release. They all reflected on a troubled 2020 and discussed their hopes for 2021 with Harry and Meghan signing off with the words: "Love always wins". The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first show as part of the huge deal with the streaming giant is a 'holiday special' which ends with gospel song This Little Light of Mine, one of their wedding songs. Meghan goes on to quote Martin Luther King, saying: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that". Earlier this month, Spotify confirmed the royal pair are to produce and host podcasts. This follows the exclusive multi-year production deal for TV programming with Netflix which they signed in September. They are free to move into the entertainment world having stepped back from royal duties earlier this year. Under a multi-year agreement, the couple's newly formed Archewell Audio will produce programming that "uplifts and entertains audiences around the world" and features "diverse perspectives and voices," Spotify said in a statement. The podcasts will be available free through Spotify, the company that leads the streaming music market. Experts claims the Spotify tie-up is a big step towards building what could become a $1billion business empire. "What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction," the couple said in a joint statement. "With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other's stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are." Harry and Meghan moved to southern California with their young son Archie this year after stepping back from royal duties in January. Friends Brené Brown, Deepak Chopra and Stacey Abrams also appears on their debut podcast.
