Jade Thirlwall reveals Little Mix hated their band name and insists 'we thought our career was over'
Jade Thirlwall reveals that Little Mix hated their band name when they first formed on the X Factor in 2011.
The girls were originally called Rhythmix but were forced to change due to a charity with the same name.
Opening up about the decision of Little Mix, Jade revealed: "We hated the name, at first. We thought our career is over, genuinely. Like, it's so kiddie."
The 28-year old said that in hindsight, the name served them well over their nine year careers.
Speaking on Chicken Shop Date with YouTube star Amelia Dimoldenberg, Jade said: "It's really helped us, like, have a long career because no one ever knows how old we are.
"I'm 52," she added jokingly.
Jade also opened up about her romance with Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens, who she started dating earlier this year.
When asked by Amelia if she was "down with the trumpets" Jade replied: "I'm down with HIS trumpet!"
Jade didn't mention Jesy Nelson's recent departure from the group during the fun interview.
Jesy announced her decision to quit the girlband after nine years in an emotional statement earlier this month.
She began with: “To all my Mixers, The past nine years in Little Mix has been the most incredible time of my life.
"We have achieved things I never thought possible. From winning our first Brit Award to our sold out shows at the O2."
“Making friends and fans all over the world I can’t thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. "
"You have always been there to support and encourage me and I will never ever forget it.
“The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard."
