Glastonbury organiser 'blown away' by 2024 tickets selling out within an hour

Tickets for next year's Glastonbury Festival have sold out within less than an hour.

Representatives for the iconic British festival thanked fans for the rapid sales after tickets were made available at 9am on Sunday.

"Our thanks to everyone who bought one and we're sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand greatly exceeded supply," a post on X/Twitter read. "There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2024."

Festival organiser Emily Eavis also expressed her thanks, while apologising to those who were unable to secure tickets.

"We're blown away that so many people want to come (we all still remember the years when they didn't!) and I'm sorry that many of you missed out," she wrote on Instagram.

"Demand far exceeds supply and with many millions of devices trying at once, it means the system can only work at certain speed."

The festival line-up will be revealed early next year, however, Eavis, 44, has already hinted that a "really big American artist" will be among the headliners.

Earlier this month, the Glastonbury organiser shut down rumours that Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay had been confirmed to headline the 2024 edition.

Eavis had previously faced criticism for 2023's male-centric line-up of headliners in the form of Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses and Sir Elton John.
