Charli XCX reveals Girl, So Confusing brought her and Lorde 'so much closer together'

Charli XCX has revealed that her song Girl, So Confusing brought her and Lorde "so much closer together".

The Grammy-winning singer has opened up about the significance of the song, which appears on her smash hit album Brat.

Girl, So Confusing reflects on a complicated relationship with another singer. Shortly after its release in June last year, it was widely rumoured that Charli had written the song about Lorde.

Just a few weeks later, the British pop star released a remix of the track featuring the New Zealand singer, and the two appeared worked out their issues.

Speaking to Elle, the 365 hitmaker said that the song was a "huge milestone" for her and Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor, and added, "It brought us so much closer together."

Charli then went on to reflect on the difficulties of friendship.

"People are people, and people are tricky sometimes, and relationships are confusing," the singer said. "There are so many different colours to the spectrum of friendship."

"To actually come out and talk about that was really powerful for both of us, especially since everything is so quick to be dramatised and twisted into something that it is not," the Von Dutch hitmaker continued. "She just wanted to go there. She had no ego."

Earlier this month, Charli scooped three Grammys, including Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Recording Package for Brat and Best Dance Pop Recording for Von Dutch. She performed the song before launching into the Guess remix during the show.
