Rihanna feeling 'thankful' after A$AP Rocky is acquitted in gun assault trial

Rihanna is "thankful" that her partner A$AP Rocky was found not guilty in his felony assault trial.

On Tuesday, a jury in Los Angeles found the rapper, real name Rakim Mayers, not guilty of two felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm over claims he fired a gun at his former friend A$AP Relli during an argument in 2021.

Rihanna, who was present in court, expressed her gratitude for the jury's verdict on her Instagram Stories shortly after.

"The Glory belongs to God and God alone," the Umbrella singer wrote in all caps on a black background. "THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY! (praying emoji)."

After the first not guilty verdict was read out on Tuesday, the court screamed and clapped as Rocky dived over a wooden barrier to embrace Rihanna, who was seated in the spectators' section behind him. He also hugged his lawyers as the second verdict was announced.

"Thank y'all for saving my life. Thank y'all for making the right decision," the 36-year-old told the jury.

Speaking to the press outside the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, Rocky said, "I really want to thank the jury for making the right decision, you know? And I'm just so thankful. This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I'm thankful, nonetheless. I'm thankful and blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to you all."

Rihanna, who has been dating Rocky since 2020, was a regular presence in court during the trial and even brought along their two sons RZA, two, and Riot, 18 months.
