Tina Knowles lifts lid on 'sneaking' affair with cheating husband

Tina Knowles has lifted the lid on having a "sneaking" affair with her cheating husband after they separated.

In a new memoir, Beyoncé's mother has revealed why she briefly took Matthew Knowles back after they separated over his infidelity.

Tina, now 71, filed for divorce in 2009 after discovering her husband was not only cheating but had impregnated his mistress, Alexsandra Wright.

However, a few months after they separated, Tina explained, Matthew, 73, worked to woo her back.

"He'd changed after new counselling," she recalled in her new tell-all memoir, Matriarch.

"I didn't believe him, but he was persistent, proved he'd gotten help, and as he courted me, I found myself falling in love again. The magnetic pull between us, this cosmic cord I had tried to cut so many times, was stronger than ever."

The pair kept their reunion hidden from daughters Beyoncé, 43 and Solange, 38 because, Tina admitted, she and Matthew "knew the kids would be so mad at us if they found out we were together again".

But, she said, their "bond seemed stronger because we were sneaking".

In 2010, Matthew fathered another child with a second mistress, TaQoya Branscomb - it was the final straw that led Tina to cut ties permanently.

"I clearly knew my relationship with Mathew was unhealthy, and it was the fear of going it alone that kept me stuck," she wrote.

Their divorce was finalised in 2011.
