Madison Beer remains friends with Justin Bieber: 'We're still in each other's lives'

Madison Beer remains good friends with Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Bieber.

During an interview for the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, the singer-songwriter recalled how the Canadian superstar helped kickstart her music career in 2012 by posting a link to her cover of Etta James's At Last to his social media followers.

Reflecting on her connection with Justin and Hailey, Madison insisted the couple has always supported her.

"I love him and Hailey (Bieber) very much," she declared. "I was with them recently and we were like, 'How special that we've known each other for so long.' I've known Hailey since I was 10, and I've known Justin since I was 12. We're still in each other's lives and now they're married with a baby."

Despite her friendship with Justin, Madison has complicated feelings about his former manager, Scooter Braun.

The Make You Mine hitmaker recounted how the music manager signed her with the plan of touting her as the "female Justin Bieber".

"The reason it was a thing was because Scooter had signed me and obviously Scooter had signed Justin. Justin had posted a cover and I had posted a cover, so it felt synchronised," the 26-year-old continued. "But Justin was also only a teenager when I got signed - he hadn't even experienced his adult life yet. He's been through so much, too."

Accordingly, Madison admitted it was a great shock to her when she was dropped by her management and lawyer two years later for not being "successful enough".

"There was a conversation around me when I was 14, I remember people being like, 'She's too sexy' and 'We can't sell the sex because she's so young, so we'd have to wait.' This was a real conversation, grown men talking about how I was too sexy. I was 14," she sighed.

Madison released her second studio album, Silence Between Songs, in 2023.

She is currently working on new music.
