NewsMay, 4 Doechii won't hesitate to defend herself online![]() Doechii has revealed that she won't hesitate to defend herself online. In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, the rising rap star explained that she will respond to online criticism in certain situations. "Am I going to be constantly online responding? No, that's not something I like to practice," Doechii said. "But I do 100 per cent believe that there are times and places to defend myself. If that happens to be through the internet, then maybe." The Anxiety hitmaker then noted that she can't respond to everything, telling the publication, "But it's not sustainable for me to constantly be going back and forth and reacting to people online." Doechii's comments come months after social media users accused her of lip-syncing during her performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards in February. In a video message at the time, the rapper denied the rumours, saying, "That is my DJ's voice picking up on the lines that I can't say because I was doing a somersault. That entire performance was live!" During the interview, Doechii reflected on her response to the accusation. "With the Grammys, I was halfway joking," she insisted. "Like, please don't play with me. I don't cheat. I don't cut corners, and I take my performances really seriously. So I was clapping back a little bit." The 26-year-old, real name Jaylah Hickmon, won Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal at the ceremony, making her the third female artist to win in the category.
