NewsJune, 6 Sabrina Carpenter explains inspiration behind new single Manchild![]() Sabrina Carpenter has explained the inspiration behind her new single Manchild. The pop star has released her latest single, which fans believe is a diss track aimed at her ex-boyfriend, Irish actor Barry Keoghan. After its release on Friday, Sabrina took to Instagram to detail the making of the track, which she wrote with Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen shortly after releasing her hugely successful sixth album, Short n' Sweet. "I wrote manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n' sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life," the 26-year-old wrote. "Not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life." The Please Please Please hitmaker went on to describe the new track as the "embodiment of a loving eye roll". "It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer!" she penned. "Hence why i wanted to give it to you now - so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long!" Sabrina concluded the caption by thanking her fans for their support, before adding, "And thank you men for testing me!! (pig emoji and white heart emoji)." The singer also shared snaps from the song's accompanying music video, along with a photo of her embracing songwriters Jack and Amy. Fans believe the track is aimed at Barry as the couple reportedly broke up in December 2024 after about a year of dating. When Sabrina announced the song in an Instagram post, she teased in the caption, "This one's about you!!"
