Kings Of Leon to play Belfast fest

Kings Of Leon are to headline Tennent's Vital music festival in Northern Ireland.

The Grammy-winning US rockers - made up of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared, and their cousin Matthew Followill - are the first act announced on the bill, reported NME.com.

They will perform at the Boucher Road Playing Fields in Belfast on August 14, with more artists to be revealed in May.

Nicola McCleery, head of marketing for Tennent's NI, said: "We're incredibly excited that Kings Of Leon will be taking to the stage at the festival this August, as we're sure our fans will be. They're one of the finest bands in the world and a phenomenal live act, and I'm sure they'll treat us to an unmissable set."

Foo Fighters, The Stone Roses, The Black Keys and Florence And The Machine all played at last year's festival.

Kings Of Leon, who are set to release their new album in September, have a number of summer dates planned, including headlining V Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire, and a UK tour in June and July.

The band's bassist Jared said: "I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I'm amazed how youthful it sounds. It's like a mix of Youth And Young Manhood and Because Of The Times."

Tickets for Tennent's Vital are available from 9am on April 12 from www.tennentsvital.com.
