NewsAugust, 6 Why Kevin quit Backstreet BoysKevin Richardson has opened up about what made him leave the Backstreet Boys in 2006. The singer left his band and started a family with wife Kristin before returning in April 2012 and told Access Hollywood about the reasons behind his decision. He said: "I didn't have anything left in the tank. In 2006, there were some things I wanted to do in my own life and start a family and be normal for a while... I didn't feel inspired." Talking about his return to the group, he said: "Now, recently I felt inspired and wanted to create again and make music again." Kevin sang with the rest of the Backstreet Boys for their new album A World Like This and is currently on tour with the group until October. He and his wife recently welcomed their second child, a boy called Maxwell Haze. Kevin's bandmate Howie Dorough told Star magazine the reason the group had such staying power was because they had built up their fan base through hard work. He said: "[The X Factor] wasn't around when we started, we had to do the grassroots approach and that's why we have such staying power and an unbelievable fan base. We don't have to worry that we were only hot for a while."
