Black Sabbath named Living Legends

Heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath are to be named living legends at a music awards ceremony later this year.

The band, whose comeback album 13 recently topped the charts, will pick up the award at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour in London.

Frontman Ozzy Osbourne said: "It's good to be a living legend. It's better than being a dead one."

The star is expected to pick up the gong with fellow band members Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi at the event at the Roundhouse on Tuesday November 14.

Other names that have picked up the honour over the years include Alice Cooper, Jimmy Page and Iggy Pop.

Chris Ingham, from Classic Rock magazine, said: "We're delighted to welcome Black Sabbath to collect our Living Legend Award. It's wholly deserved as not only do they have a career to celebrate, but Ozzy, Geezer and Tony blasted back with a brilliant new album in 2013 that reminded us all how it should be done."

The magazine's readers are being asked to vote for other awards given out on the night, including the prize for Band of the Year, which sees Black Sabbath up against fellow veterans The Rolling Stones after their appearances at Hyde Park and the Glastonbury festival.
