Stars swoon over N Sync reunion

Justin Timberlake scooped a haul of prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards but it was his reunion with boyband N Sync that had tongues wagging on the red carpet before the ceremony.

Stars including Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and One Direction faced photographers and fans at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York but it was Justin's much-rumoured return to his roots that was the hot topic of conversation.

Ellie Goulding, who was nominated for two awards for her collaboration with Calvin Harris on I Need Your Love, said she couldn't wait to see what the boys had in store.

"I was into my British boybands, Boyzone and Take That and East 17 but the amount people have been talking about this has made me really excited. I think it's going to be amazing."

Fellow Brit Emeli Sande, who presented an award with American Idol star Adam Lambert, said: "I have a lot of love for Justin, I remember when they came out it was very exciting, they were this amazing boyband, I'm excited to see them."

No Air singer Jordin Sparks could barely contain her excitement as she hit the carpet with her boyfriend Jason Derulo.

"I was a huge N Sync-er, I still am, and have been waiting for this forever and so have the other N Sync-ers around the world so I had a complete fan girl moment when I found out, I completely freaked out. I will either be up dancing or fainting on the floor."

Jason added: "I am excited too, I was a kid when they came out but Justin Timberlake was always someone I watched from being a kid."

The celeb fans were not disappointed when Justin performed a medley of his biggest hits before a brief appearance by his former bandmates for their first reunion in a decade. Justin went on to scoop Video of the Year and Best Editing for Mirrors, as well as Best Direction for Suit and Tie with Jay-Z, as well as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

The awards show airs on MTV UK at 9pm on Monday August 26.
