NewsSeptember, 7 Fatboy Slim takes Bestival by stormRevellers have avoided muddy conditions so far despite occasional light showers as Bestival enjoys its 10th anniversary party. The 60,000 music fans enjoyed a headline set by Fatboy Slim who played a greatest hits show on Friday night, ending with a fireworks display. Florence Lehmann, of Southsea, Hampshire, said: "Fatboy Slim was amazing with a big, big crowd, everybody dancing and having fun." The Flaming Lips also got into the party spirit by leading the crowd in a rendition of Happy Birthday for the festival. Rain failed to dampen spirits during the evening and did not fall heavily enough to cause muddy conditions. Another hit with the crowds was Glaswegian indie-popsters Belle and Sebastian who invited fans to dance on the stage. And Bastille was a big pull for the younger teenage element of the crowd. The event, which is run by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and his illustrator wife Josie, has become famous for its fancy dress parade and colourful set designs. Many mermaids and pirates could be seen across the festival site on Saturday. Bestival runs until Sunday night at Robin Hill Country Park.
