Elton John to close Bestival shows

The last party of the summer is coming to an end at Bestival, with Rocket Man Elton John bringing festivities to a close.

More than 60,000 music fans have headed to the Isle of Wight for the event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Revellers have mostly avoided muddy conditions despite occasional showers during the weekend.

Snoop Dogg brought his bling-laden stageshow complete with scantily-dressed dancers to the main stage and got the crowd chanting and grinding along to his hip-hop classics including Doggystyle and Drop It Like It's Hot.

He alternated his show with his reggae alter ego of Snoop Lion and performed Here Comes The King.

He dedicated several of his hits to the "sexy ladies" of the audience. He finished his set with a cover of Bob Marley's Jammin.

David Howlett, of Southsea, Hampshire, said: "It was great to see one of the all-time hip-hop greats, you don't have many chances to see such a big star, but he didn't half swear."

The weekend was kicked off by Fatboy Slim, who took the Friday-night headline slot which ended with a fireworks display.

The Flaming Lips also got into the party spirit by leading the crowd in a rendition of Happy Birthday for the festival.

The event at Robin Hill Country Park, which is run by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank and his illustrator wife Josie, has become famous for its fancy dress parade and colourful set designs.
