Alex Turner asks crowd to wake up?

Alex Turner was apparently less than impressed with the audience at Arctic Monkeys' iTunes Festival gig, telling them to "wake up".

The Cornerstone singer was on stage with his bandmates at the Roundhouse in Camden and had just announced the arrival of guest Bill Ryder-Jones, the guitarist from The Coral.

Apparently deciding the crowd's response was too subdued, he repeated his introduction and asked the fans to "wake up", reported the BBC.

Earlier in the evening, Alex also dedicated the song Snap Out Of It to the audience.

He also demonstrated some of his own moves, explaining: "If you're gonna wave your arms tonight, you've got to make sure you move your hips as well like this..."

The Sheffield band performed a string of their hits and tracks from their new album, AM.

Despite his earlier grumbles, Alex thanked the crowd for their reaction to the band's music at the end of the show.

"Thanks for getting the new record and singing along. It makes me feel all warm inside," he said.
