Oritse: I was cautioned off JLS

Oritse Williams has revealed people warned him that JLS would be "a waste of time".

The singer, who disregarded the advice and teamed up with Jonathan 'JB' Gill, Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes anyway, admitted that the group got a lot of negative feedback when they first formed in 2006.

"JLS was an idea I put together. Everybody said it wouldn't work or that I was wasting my time, and seven years of amazing success proved everyone wrong. If you have a dream, a vision and work hard enough, it can happen," he told the Daily Star.

The boyband, who are set to split after their December tour, have released a compilation of their greatest hits, JLS Goodbye - The Greatest Hits, which is out now.

"It's an amazing moment for us to have a greatest hits," Oritse continued.

"We're taking each day as it comes, enjoying every moment with the boys as we aren't going to be together next year. So it's about enjoying every dance, every song with them, appreciating every day."

The singer, who will celebrate his 27th birthday on November 27, has his eye on following in the footsteps of Jay Z and Sean 'P Diddy' Combs to create a music empire.

"I'm hoping when I'm 70, I'm going to be a music mogul with my own empire," he said.

"Simon Cowell is a great guy but my inspirations are Jay Z, Diddy, Russell Simmons and Berry Gordy of Motown."
