Stones to headline Euro festivals

The Rolling Stones have announced they will headline two European festivals this summer as part of their 14 On Fire world tour.

The veteran rockers will perform at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands on June 7 and Belgium's TW Classic on June 28.

Mick Jagger, now aged 70, said: "I love festivals in the summertime and can't wait for the tour to get to Europe."

The band kicked off the 16-date tour with their first-ever show in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi in February and songwriter and guitarist Keith Richards said: "Let's keep this show on the road... the band are in top form so I'm really looking forward to getting back to Europe."

The band behind hits Jumpin' Jack Flash and Gimme Shelter are making their way through Asia, Australia and New Zealand, before returning to Europe.

The dates in Holland and Belgium will be the first shows the band have played in mainland Europe in seven years.

In 2007 the London-based four piece played 147 dates on their A Bigger Bang tour which became the second highest grossing tour of all time, chalking up over 500 million dollars (£300 million) in ticket sales.
