Coldplay just changed everybody's mind about Glastonbury with an incredible set at the NME Awards

The announcement Coldplay would be closing Glastonbury Festival in the Sunday night headline slot was not met with the greatest enthusiasm by Twitter.

But the band have just pulled the musical equivalent of giving two fingers to their haters with a phenomenal live set at the NME Awards as they picked up the Godlike Genius trophy from Kylie Minogue.

The band played their allocated hits Viva la Vida, Charlie Brown and Clocks, before Chris Martin announced that although the show was over they would keep playing.

He also joked about their Super Bowl half time show, telling the crowd, “We haven’t done a gig in a while, we just did this warm-up gig for the NME Awards in San Francisco last week.”

Their additional numbers of Yellow, Adventure Of A Lifetime and a finale of Fix You had the crowd on their feet, waving their Xylobands, and people watching the live stream at home gushing over the performance.
