The Shires become Country To Country Festival ambassadors

The Shires are "honoured" to be welcomed back to London's County to Country festival as ambassadors.

The popular duo - formed of singer-songwriters Ben Earle and Crissie Rhodes - are to introduce acts and make several appearances across the weekend, including a performance on Sunday March 13, on the newly created Late Night stage, hosted by Sounds Like Nashville.

Of their role, the band said: "We are very honoured to be returning to C2C Festival this year as ambassadors. We'll be hosting, introducing acts across the stages and will be making a few appearances ourselves! The line-up this year is unbelievable, from the headliners to the Pop-Up acts, it is the best country music line up you'll see outside of Nashville. A further reflection of the growth of the country scene in the UK. "C2C is a huge event in the music industry now. For us, headlining the Pop-Up stage last year was a big moment as it coincided with our album breaking into the top 10. It was a huge platform and a big factor in our success. We're looking forward to watching all the acts perform on the Pop-Up stage and seeing other UK country acts develop this year. It's a thriving scene, with so much talent."

Last year, the 'Friday Night' hitmakers' debut album 'Brave' was the first ever country album to chart in the top 10 in the UK album charts, and they reached that milestone the same day they performed at C2C.

County to Country 2016 will be hosted at The O2 from March 11 to 13 and already includes legendary country acts such as Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Sam Hunt, Chris Stapleton.
