Adele and Coldplay tipped for BRIT Awards success as they chase total of FIVE prizes

Coldplay and Adele are leading the way ahead of the BRIT Awards on Wednesday night.

The two homegrown acts are tipped as favourites to dominate the evening as the best in the UK and beyond come to London for the prestigious ceremony.

Between them, the stars are nominated for a combined five awards, and bookmakers William Hill are expecting them to clean up at the bash.

A spokesman said: "Adele’s triumphant return looks set to bag her a couple of Brits while Coldplay look set to trump One Direction in the battle for the best band."

According to the latest odds as betting closed on Monday, Adele is 1/16 to triumph in the Best British Female category, which sees her competing with Florence and the Machine, Jess Glynne, Amy Winehouse and Laura Marling.

She is also expected to see success in the Best British Album category, with the Hello singer currently 1/16 again to take home the prize.

Coldplay follow behind in second place at 9/1, followed by James Bay, Florence and the Machine and Jamie XX.

However, Chris Martin and company are still expected to continue a great 2016 - which included a stellar performance at the Super Bowl halftime show - as they remain favourites for the Best Group gong.

With odds of 3/10, they are forerunners ahead of Years and Years, One Direction, Blur and Foals.
