Adele turned down Macklemore collaboration

Adele "graciously passed" on the opportunity to collaborate with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

The 'Thrift Shop' singer - real name Ben Haggerty - and collaborator Ryan Lewis, offered the 'Hello' hitmaker the chance to appear on their song 'Growing Up' from their LP 'This Unruly Mess I've Made', but she politely declined.

And in her place fellow British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran ended up recording the vocals for the hit single.

Macklemore told the New York Times: "She graciously passed, I'm sure that there were times that we never heard back from somebody's manager or something like that."

'Growing Up' was written about the 32-year-old star's baby daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty, and would have suited Adele as she too penned a song about her three-year-old son Angelo - who she has with partner Simon Konecki - titled 'Sweet Devotion' for her LP '25'.

Macklemore previously shared a touching message about dedicating the song to his baby girl.

He said: "There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into the universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible. She is the love of my life. This song is for her."
