Adele: 'I turned down chance to perform at the Super Bowl'

Adele has turned down an offer to perform at the the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

During her performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday (13Aug16), the singer revealed she was being courted to perform at the show, but declined.

"First of all, I'm not doing the Super Bowl," she told the audience. "I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don't really - I can't dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no."

Executives at the National Football League (NFL) were reportedly desperately trying to make a deal with the Rolling in the Deep singer, who is currently on her world tour, to get her to perform during their annual championship game at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on 5 February (17).

"There is nobody bigger in the world than Adele right now and organisers are doing absolutely everything they can to try to persuade her to sign up," an NFL source told Britain's The Sun newspaper. "She's sold out every date on her tour, everyone wants a piece of her and they know they can bank on her bringing in the viewers."

It had also been reported that she wouldn't have spent the entire segment alone had she agreed to perform, according to the newspaper - Ryan Tedder and his band OneRepublic were reportedly being courted to join her onstage in Houston.

If Adele had agreed to perform, she would have followed in the footsteps of 2016 headliners Coldplay, who were joined by former show-stoppers Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
