NewsAugust, 8 Tinashe plays down Calvin Harris romance rumoursR&B star Tinashe has brushed off rumours of a romance with Calvin Harris by declaring she is "definitely single". The singer first met Calvin in the studio in 2014, when they worked together on the song Dollar Signs, but last month (Jul16), their professional relationship was said to have evolved into something more as they were photographed enjoying what appeared to be a series of dates in Los Angeles. The pair did not address the gossip online, but on Saturday (06Aug16), 23-year-old Tinashe tried to play down the claims as she was interviewed ahead of her performance at Intrigue nightclub in Las Vegas, where DJ Calvin is also a regular. Asked if a relationship with the Scot was on the cards, she replied to E! News, "I mean, I'm still definitely single, so that's all that we're at right now." However, Tinashe did not dismiss the reports completely, and revealed Harris had actually shared a little advice as she prepared for her big Sin City gig. "He mostly just said, obviously, 'Just go out there,'" she recalled. "Vegas is a different crowd every night so you never know what to expect, so I'm looking forward to it being a really good crowd. I know there are fans that have travelled from far, so I'm excited to see them." Meanwhile, Harris wasn't far away as he was also in Vegas for the 50th Anniversary Gala at Caesar's Palace, where event host Howie Mandel couldn't resist poking fun at the DJ over his split from former girlfriend Taylor Swift. Complimenting Calvin on his "nice suit" as the hitmaker was awarded the Icon prize for his residency at the resort's Omnia Nightclub, Mandel quipped, "Who's your tailor?", a comment which prompted the crowd to burst out in laughter. Smiling awkwardly at the remark, Harris replied, "I already dealt with that. You had that one ready," before going on to thank fans for their support. Calvin split from Taylor in late May (16) and she quickly rebounded by embarking on a romance with actor Tom Hiddleston weeks later. However, the former couple hit headlines again in July (16) when it publicly feuded over the DJ's recent Rihanna hit, This Is What You Came For, after a representative for Swift confirmed rumours suggesting she had secretly written the tune. Calvin took to Twitter to vent his frustration, accusing the superstar's publicists of trying to make him look "bad" by keeping her involvement under wraps, claiming it was Swift who actually chose to use the pseudonym in the song's credits in the first place.
