Jesy Nelson confirms she will release solo music this summer after 'severing ties with Little Mix bandmates'
Jesy Nelson has confirmed plans to release new solo music this summer after it was reported she doesn't want to remain friends with her former Little Mix bandmates and has no intention of working with them again.
Jesy, 29, made the revelation about her music as she posted a string of photos from behind the scenes of her recent Cosmopolitan interview – where she discussed leaving the band – on Instagram. She captioned the post: “Cosmo photo dump.”
Jesy was spotted liking a fan comment on the post which read: “Like this comment if you’re going to feed us with some new music this summer.”
Noticing she had confirmed her plans, a follower wrote: “Omggggg freaking out.” Another said: “JESY IS OFFICIALLY RELEASING MUSIC THIS SUMMER.”
A third added: “I’M SO FLIPPING EXCITED,” while another wrote: “She likes your comment … omg.”
It comes after a source close to Jesy told The Sun Online that she's halted all direct contact with the band and hasn't spoken to them for months.
She left the girl group in mid-December last year after it "took a toll on her mental health".
While it appeared to be an amicable split, it appears things have taken a turn between herself and group, including pregnant Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 29, Jade Thirlwall, 28, and 27 year old Perrie Edwards.
"The plan was always to stay in touch but that just hasn’t happened because Jesy didn’t want it," a source said.
"She wants to sever ties and start again – that seems to be both professionally and personally.”
In February, Jesy had teased a launch of her solo career as she shared a snap inside a recording studio.
The hitmaker took to her Instagram stories to share the cheeky photo, which saw her sitting with one leg over the other as two men appeared to be working on a new track.
As one person kept his eyes peeled on several computer screens in front of him, another could be seen playing an acoustic guitar next to him.
Over the image, Jesy put four emojis of monkeys covering their mouths.
She later posted a selfie and in the caption, she wrote: "Let's go," followed by three music notes emojis, further teasing the potential release of new songs.
