Megan Thee Stallion and PSY to star in K-pop song battle show

Megan Thee Stallion and PSY are to star in a new K-pop song battle show titled KPOPPED.

On Wednesday, producers from Apple TV+ announced that the Hot Girl Summer rapper and Gangnam Style hitmaker have teamed up to appear in the eight-episode series.

Megan, real name Megan Pete, will also perform her hit 2020 track Savage on the programme.

"In each episode, western icons reimagine one of their biggest hits, collaborating with top-tier K-pop idols to deliver spectacular battle performances, with a live Seoul-based audience picking the winner of the best new K-popped song," a synopsis reads.

Megan will serve as one of the executive producers of KPOPPED alongside music icon Lionel Richie.

A release date for the show has not yet been confirmed.

The series will mark Apple TV+'s second venture into the unscripted competition show space, having released country music series My Kind of Country in 2023.

Created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves, the judging panel was comprised of musicians Mickey Guyton, Jimmie Allen, and Orville Peck.

Meanwhile, the streamer unveiled docuseries K-Pop Idols last August.

The eight-episode show followed three K-Pop acts - Blackswan, boy group Cravity, and soloist Jessi - as they navigated the "trials and triumphs" of the South Korean music scene.
