Tate McRae reveals why she never looks herself up online

Tate McRae has explained why she never looks herself up online.

The 21-year-old pop star has revealed that one of her rules to protect her creativity is to "never search yourself up on the internet".

"All it does is literally just stunt your creativity. I think the worst place to write or create music from is a place of fear and judgement," Tate told People in a recent interview. "It's human nature to go out and look for bad things, and see what you need to work on, and see what people don't like about you."

The Greedy hitmaker added, "And I think honestly, I've just been like, 'I need to get off my phone.'"

Tate explained that she creates her best work when she blocks out all the noise.

"I think whenever I'm confident and ready to try anything and not scared, that's when I create my best stuff," she shared. "I think freedom is the key to your best work and your best mind, so I try to block out the noise as much as I can."

Tate, who is preparing to release her upcoming third studio album So Close to What on 21 February, also said that she tries "not to play it safe" when it comes to her music.

"Anytime I walked into the studio, (I tried) not to play it safe," the singer said. "I think one of the worst feelings is releasing stuff and it not doing anything - for anyone else, for me, for my growth."

Tate has already released three singles from her new album - It's OK I'm OK, 2 Hands and Sports Car.
