Charli XCX to receive Songwriter of the Year honour at 2025 BRIT Awards

Charli XCX will be awarded the Songwriter of the Year honour at the 2025 BRIT Awards on Saturday.

The Guess singer will receive the honour at The O2 in London on 1 March in recognition of the success of her 2024 album Brat.

"Charli has had an undeniable year, taking her experimental brand of electronic and pop from underground raves to the heart of mainstream culture," said Damian Christian, Chair of the BRIT Committee for 2025. "Charli's songwriting is distinctive, bold and relentlessly innovative, and, having been one of the UK's leading songwriters for a number of years now, has taken her craft to new heights with her global phenomenon Brat. I'm delighted she has been recognised for this much deserved award."

Earlier this week, Charli's longtime collaborator A.G. Cook - who worked on Brat - was named the recipient of the Producer of the Year award.

The songwriting prize marks the Von Dutch hitmaker's first BRIT Award. She is widely expected to add more to her collection during the ceremony as she leads the pack with five nominations.

The British singer is up for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year for her Guess remix with Billie Eilish, Best Pop Act and Best Dance Act.

Earlier this month, the 32-year-old won three Grammys for Brat and closed the show by performing Von Dutch and Guess.

In addition to songwriter and producer of the year, two more winners have been announced in advance. Myles Smith will receive the Rising Star award and Sabrina Carpenter will be presented with the Global Success prize.

They will both perform on the night alongside the likes of Jade Thirlwall, Sam Fender, The Last Dinner Party, Teddy Swims and Lola Young.
