NewsMay, 2 Green Day honoured with star on Hollywood Walk of Fame![]() Green Day received the 2,810th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday. Officials from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presented the group - comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool - with the honour under the category of Recording. Addressing the crowd, frontman Armstrong dedicated the star to his mother, Ollie Jackson. "This is for my mom. This is like my mom's Super Bowl right now!" the 53-year-old declared. "Thank you to all of our friends that bought our records and come to our shows, we love you guys so much." While bassist Dirnt shared a similar sentiment. "I'd like to thank my mom for, you know, just telling me you could do anything you want to do because you got nothing to lose," he said. And drummer Cool, real name Frank Wright III, confessed he would have loved to have played a few songs for the audience. "I just wish we would put our gear up there and play a couple," he smiled. Elsewhere, guest speaker Ryan Reynolds described the American Idiot hitmakers as the "most beautiful band in the world". The actor featured the band's 1997 song Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) in the end credits of his 2024 movie Deadpool & Wolverine. "These guys, they live at the intersection of both nostalgia and evolution," he praised. "I don't think a band like this stays together this way and is this prolific for this long without integrity. I think it's like the bedrock of what they are."
