John Lydon: Rolling Stones 'should retire'

John Lydon thinks it's time for The Rolling Stones to call it quits.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, Lydon reflected on previously opening up about the deaths of his wife and manager, and announcing that he would never tour again.

The former Sex Pistols frontman walked back on those claims and said this week that he's actually not ready to retire quite yet: "That's dementia for you, I forgot that bit," the singer, who's also known as Johnny Rotten, quipped.

"As I indicated before, if I just sat back and retired, that's not me. I'm not that kind of person. By all means, The Rolling Stones should retire, I'm not short of a song idea or two, so there's a difference."

Lydon, who turned 69 earlier this year, is currently promoting his upcoming outing with Public Image Ltd. The tour, dubbed This is Not The Last Tour 2025, kicks off on Thursday, 22 May in Bristol and will visit venues around Europe through the summer months. Many of the dates are already sold out.

In 2024, The Rolling Stones - led by 80-year-old Mick Jagger - embarked on a stadium tour across North America. They also released a studio album titled Hackney Diamonds in October 2023.
