NewsMay, 20 Taylor Swift premieres Look What You Made Me Do re-recording during The Handmaid's Tale![]() Taylor Swift debuted the re-recorded version of her 2017 single Look What You Made Me Do during The Handmaid's Tale on Monday night. The Shake It Off hitmaker has been re-recording her first six albums over the past few years following the sale of her masters and she has already released new versions of her albums 1989, Speak Now, Fearless and Red. Fans expected Taylor to release Reputation (Taylor's Version) during The Eras Tour, her mammoth global trek in 2023 and 2024, and were disappointed when she didn't announce it before its conclusion in December. After several months out of the spotlight, the pop superstar took fans by surprise by dropping the updated version of Reputation's lead single Look What You Made Me Do during the penultimate episode of The Handmaid's Tale on Monday. The angry, vengeful song soundtracks the opening scene in which the handmaids - led by Elisabeth Moss's character June Osborne - stage an uprising against the Commanders. Moss, who also directed the episode, spoke to Billboard about using Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version) in the show. "I've been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I'm so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment," she said in a statement. "Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for (co-star) Yvonne (Strahovski) and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it's such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show." Fans have started speculating that Taylor will officially announce Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the American Music Awards on 26 May. After its release, the singer only has her 2006 self-titled debut album left to re-record.
