NewsJuly, 2 Gavin Rossdale reflects on difficult childhood![]() Gavin Rossdale has reflected publicly on his unstable childhood. The Bush frontman opened up about his unstable upbringing in an interview with The Sunday Times. Gavin, 59, explained his early interest in punk music began as a reaction to his parents' complicated relationships. "Punk gave me my voice," the Everything Zen singer said. "I'd gone through a lot as a kid." After his mother walked out of the family home, Gavin said, he was left without any healthy means of processing his feelings. "My mum moved away when I was 11 and nobody spoke about it back then; you just suffered in silence," he recalled, adding he channelled his sadness into aggression. "I had a lot of trouble in school and was a very aggressive kid," Gavin said. "Punk spoke to me as anti-authority and has stayed with me in how I perform." The father of four shares sons Kingston, 19, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11, with his ex-wife Gwen Stefani, 55, and is also dad to model Daisy Lowe, 36, whom he fathered during a brief liaison with her mother Pearl Lowe, 55. He explained that each of his parents had been married three times, leaving him unfamiliar with the dynamics of a functional relationship. "I was from a broken home, so I had a lot of confusion about relationships," Gavin shared. "My parents were married three times each. My father was a busy man, a workaholic, so I had to work hard to get his attention."
