Sean 'Diddy' Combs sentencing set for October

A federal judge has decreed that Sean 'Diddy' Combs will be sentenced on 3 October.

The news comes after the music mogul was convicted on charges of transportation to engage in prostitution for the purposes of his drug-fuelled sexual activities.

US District Judge Arun Subramanian, who oversaw Combs' trial in Manhattan, approved the date following a request from Combs' lawyer Marc Agnifilo.

Prosecutors and probation officers agreed to the date.

Combs' lawyers will file their sentencing recommendation by 19 September, with prosecutors likely to follow a week later.

Combs could face up to 63 months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines.

The Grammy-winning rapper remains in the Special Housing Unit at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Centre, where he has been held since his September 2024 arrest.

Hours after Combs and his lawyers celebrated being cleared of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, Judge Subramanian denied bail for Combs, issuing an order to keep him incarcerated at the Detention Centre until his sentencing.

This is despite jurors clearing him of the most serious charges he faced.

Jurors acquitted Combs on 2 July on sex trafficking and racketeering charges that could have put him behind bars for life.

They convicted him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

The mixed verdict has been viewed widely as a defeat for prosecutors.
