NewsJuly, 22 FKA Twigs drops lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf over alleged battery![]() FKA Twigs has dropped her lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf over alleged battery. The British singer has filed to dismiss the $10 million (£7.4 million) lawsuit against LaBeouf, whom she dated from mid-2018 to May 2019. In December 2020, Twigs, real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett, filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf, accusing him of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. However, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly, the musician requested on 21 July that the court dismiss all claims against the actor with prejudice, meaning she cannot refile them in the future. In the lawsuit, Twigs, 37, alleged that LaBeouf had exposed her to a sexually transmitted disease (STD) during their relationship. She also claimed that he had slammed her against a car and, on a separate occasion, tried to strangle her. The Transformers actor, 39, denied all the allegations and later revealed that Twigs was seeking $10 million in damages. In a statement, LaBeouf's lawyer said that he was surprised by the damages the singer was seeking. "In addition to music, she is starring in the upcoming film The Crow," he said. "She also has a modelling campaign for Calvin Klein and appeared in numerous magazines, including Elle and British Vogue." Meanwhile, Twigs' lawyer claimed that her personal success should not be a factor. "Any suggestion that FKA Twigs' emotional distress should be discounted because of any career success is preposterous and discounts the idea that victims should have hope for the future," he stated. "Logically, without the trauma that she has suffered, I can only imagine the level of success she would have achieved by now." The trial in the case was initially scheduled for 2024 but was postponed for numerous reasons. It was most recently scheduled to begin on 29 September.
