Rod joins Million Dollar Quartet

Rod Stewart rock'n'rolled back the years to join stars of West End hit Million Dollar Quartet.

The singer dropped by to join members of the cast after being impressed by the show, which relives a momentous night for four music legends.

The London stage musical celebrates the one-off performance in which Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis hooked up.

The show at the Noel Coward Theatre features classic hits such as Blue Suede Shoes, I Walk The Line, Hound Dog and Great Balls Of Fire.

Rod said of his visit: "I had a ball. Rock'n'roll at its purest - a wonderful night out. Very authentic and the standard of musicianship was extremely high."

He is the latest star to take in a performance, following the likes of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood and his former bandmate Bill Wyman.

The show, which is booking until October of next year, is also being staged simultaneously in New York and Chicago, and a US tour begins in October.
