Beady Eye replaced by Angello at V

Beady Eye have been replaced by Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello at this year's Virgin Media V Festival.

The Liam Gallagher-fronted band were forced to pull out of the line-up when guitarist Gem Archer got a head injury from reportedly falling down some stairs and now they've been replaced by the DJ, said NME.

Steve has been bumped up from headlining the festival's Arena Stage to Beady Eye's headline slot on the 4Music Stage, with Ocean Colour Scene filling in for Steve's original billing.

Gem apparently fractured his skull in a fall down the stairs at home and was hospitalised.

A statement on the Beady Eye website read: "Beady Eye regret to announce that they are cancelling their performance at V Festival and their remaining scheduled shows and promotional commitments in August due to guitarist Gem Archer suffering severe head trauma after an accident on August 1.

"The band apologise to fans, but under the circumstances feel they can not perform without Gem and want to focus on supporting him throughout his recovery. Gem was released from hospital yesterday evening and is recovering at home though remains under observation."

Oasis famously pulled out of the second night of 2009's V Festival in Chelmsford because Liam had viral laryngitis, but the band split the next week, making the festival's Staffordshire show the band's last.

Virgin Media's V Festival takes place in Staffordshire and Chelmsford on August 17 and 18.
