Derulo claims third UK number one

American pop singer Jason Derulo has scored his third UK number one after his latest single, Talk Dirty, knocked Katy Perry from the top of the charts.

Talk Dirty, which also features rapper 2 Chainz, shifted more than 150,000 copies in the seven days since its release to become the fourth fastest-selling single of the year so far in the UK.

The track ended Katy's two-week reign at the summit, with Roar falling one place to two.

Talk Dirty was one of three new entries in the top 10, with Jessie J's It's My Party in at three and Avicii's You Make Me entering at five - one of two tracks by the Swedish DJ in the top 10.

Elsewhere there were new entries for teen songstress Birdy, rockers Linkin Park and electro-pop trio Chvrches.

The power of the X Factor helped Christina Perri's A Thousand Years catapult 84 places to number 11 - more than a year since it was released - after it was performed by contestant Nicholas McDonald on last weekend's show.

In the album chart, Arctic Monkeys' AM claimed a second week at the top.

The Sheffield-based band, who set a new chart record last weekend by becoming the first independent act to have five number one studio albums in a row, fought off tough competition from Avicii and Sir Elton John to hold on to their number one position for a second week.

Sir Elton, who was honoured with the first BRITs Icon award earlier this month, is new in at number three with his 31st studio album, The Diving Board.
