Carly Rae Jepsen is a Spice Girls superfan

Carly Rae Jepsen would cancel her own tour to go and see a Spice Girls show.

The Canadian popstar grew up with parents who loved folk music, so when she found British girl power band the Spice Girls, Carly says it was like being “reborn”. She’s remained a fan ever since, and with the group celebrating their 20th anniversary this year (16), Carly is one of many followers hoping they’ll reform.

“I’ll literally cancel my own tour to go and see the Spice Girls if they get back together. It’ll be inconvenient for me, but so worth it,” she grinned to Gay Times magazine.

The alleged reunion has been hit with rumours that only three of the women - Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton - will collaborate, with fashion designer Victoria Beckham and singer Mel C apparently not feeling it.

“That’d still be worth seeing, but nothing could beat the magic of all five together,” Carly said. “But yeah, it’s easy for us to say they should do something again, but imagine it from their perspective. It must feel like a total time warp – putting on those costumes and singing those songs. I don’t know whether they’ll be excited or terrified. But hey, if they decide to put on a show, I’m coming.”

During her chat with the publication the 30-year-old spoke about her relationship with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Carly will be performing at Britain’s 2016 Brighton and Hove Pride festival, and says her gay fans hold a special place in her heart.

“The music that I’m drawn to is very ‘80s pop and maybe that’s connecting with people? But we’ve certainly noticed at my live shows that a big part of the crowd has been from the LGBT community. That feels like the ultimate gift because it’s my favourite crowd to perform to,” she smiled.

“I stand on stage and feel great acceptance rather than judged, which you can sometimes feel when you step out there.”
