NewsJune, 21 Maroon 5 launch special charity day with UNICEFMaroon 5 has joined forces with children's charity UNICEF to launch #Maroon5Day. The American band unveiled the annual campaign on Monday (20Jun16) with the aim of raising funds for the organisation and celebrating "the universal messages of music and philanthropy". "We are truly excited to kick off this campaign with UNICEF and ask our fans to join us in support of the organisation," the band - which includes frontman Adam Levine - told People magazine. "Maroon 5 Day is not just about the music, it's about working together to build a better world for children so that every child, everywhere has the chance to grow up happy and healthy." Fans can make donations to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF using the hashtags #Maroon5 and #childrenfirst, and supporters have also been invited to share their stories about giving back on social media through Saturday (25Jun16). Anyone who contributes will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win VIP tickets to see the Moves Like Jagger hitmakers in concert. According to UNICEF executives, the funds raised by Maroon 5 Day will go towards providing "children in need with health care and immunisations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more." The welfare of children is particularly important to the band, as members PJ Morton and Matt Flynn are already fathers, while Adam, 37, is currently expecting his first child with wife, model Behati Prinsloo. Adam recently revealed becoming a parent had always been part of his life plan and he cannot wait to meet his baby, which he previously confirmed will be a little girl. "I'm ready to be a dad," he told ET Online. "You're born to be a parent, that's what we're here for, really. All the other s**t is great, but it's not what we're here for."
