Lionel Richie lets slip he's planning to have more children

Lionel Richie has hinted he'll be having more children but insists he won't tie the knot again.

The 67-year-old singer already has three children - adopted daughter Nicole Richie, 34, son Miles, 22, and 17-year-old daughter Sofia - and it was only in December (15) that he announced he has no plans to expand his brood.

However it seems like Lionel has had a change of heart, and it could be to do with his girlfriend of four years Lisa Parigi, who is in her 30s.

“I’m willing to become a father again," he told Daily Mirror Online. "I might have just let a secret slip there, but so be it - Lisa and I are cool with the idea of children. Marriage, on the other hand, is a very different issue, it’s a bad idea for men.

“I’ve been there twice and it was very expensive for me. I’ve no idea to go there a third time - women have killed it for me. Kids aren’t the problem - ex-wives are. That’s why I won’t marry again, but I’m happy to commit in other ways.”

The Hello crooner married his college sweetheart Brenda Harvey in 1975, though he famously began an affair with Diane Alexander in 1986, later marrying her in 1995 and having Miles and Sofia together before their split in 2004.

It seems this reluctance to say 'I do' doesn't bother Lisa though as she is adamant that she's content with their union the way it is.

"Lionel has been there twice and it was definitely a tough for him," she explained. "I don’t need a ring to validate my relationship with him. What we already have is enough.

“So many people need marriage to validate a relationship, but I’m not one of them. Lionel doesn’t owe me anything.”

She also spoke about how much she loves jetting around the globe with her musical beau, and that they bring their own pillows and candles with them wherever they go to feel "based".
