The “Hold My Hand” singer no longer has accounts on Instagram and Twitter, with The Sun reporting that she left social media after facing a “relentless tirade of abuse”. In one incident, a commenter told Glynne to “go die, b****”. A source told the publication: “It has been a horrid few weeks for Jess. She feels so upset about the whole situation and really felt like the only way to escape was to delete her accounts. “This has been an incredibly difficult experience for her, especially at a time when she has been in lockdown and unable to distract herself. These trolls don’t seem to realise how painful their words are and the impact the comments can have.” The Independent has contacted Glynne’s representatives for comment. In March, Glynne faced criticism after using an outdated transphobic slur while appearing on Mo Gilligan’s podcast. In a lengthy statement of apology, the singer said that she was “wholeheartedly sorry” for her words. “I am ashamed that I was unaware of the potency of the T-slur until now,” she wrote.
