Dua Lipa seen as fresh-faced teen as 2013 X Factor advert resurfaces
A resurfaced video of Dua Lipa appearing in a promotional advert for The X Factor in 2013 has left fans in shock.
The then 17 year old showed off her now-famous vocal chops as she effortlessly sang a cover of Sister Sledge's Lost In Music to promote the show in the minute-long video.
While she now rules the red carpet in the world's most high-profile designers goods, the fresh-faced teen sported her brunette locks in a casual bun while donning an oversized white shirt as she did laundry.
Fans were stunned to see Dua's transformation while also pointing out that the Grammy winner was now more successful than any of the people who actually participated in the show that year – including winner Sam Bailey.
One fan wrote: "17 year old Dua Lipa advertising X Factor in 2013.. the judges thought Sam Bailey was better that year."
Another wrote: "The irony that a fake contestant from an advert ended up being massively more successful than anyone competing that year."
A third added: "Actually shook that Dua Lipa was in this x factor advert from 2013" while a fourth enthused: "What a discovery this is! Can't believe it's her."
Dua was working as a model when she filmed the advertisement for the popular singing series, which had Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh on the judging panel that year.
Her career first began at an early age when she posted cover songs on YouTube, singing songs by her favourite artists.
Following the X Factor advert, Dua signed a contract with label Tap Managements, and the monthly salary offered to the star allowed her to leave her job as a waitress to focus on recording music.
During one of her recording sessions, she co-wrote Hotter Than Hell, which skyrocketed her to fame and led to Dua signing with Warner Music Group in 2015.
The highly talented singer has since released massive hits and floor fillers, including New Love, Be The One, and Blow Your Mind.
In 2018, she received nominations in five categories at the Brit Awards – giving her more nominations than any other artist that year and making her the first female artist to receive five nominations for a single Brits.
Dua, who is dating Anwar Hadid, has released two studio albums, including her Future Nostalgia album, for which she received her award at the Brit Awards 2021.
