NewsFebruary, 4 Killer Mike sues Grammys private security![]() Killer Mike is suing the private security companies hired at the 2024 Grammys after he was arrested at the ceremony. Following his three-award sweep at last year's awards, the Atlanta rapper and activist was detained by security and arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for "misdemeanour battery" while trying to access the red carpet area of the event. "There was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter," he said after the arrest. "We experienced an overzealous security guard." Mike, real name Michael Santiago Render, was released from custody hours later. According to the lawsuit obtained by Variety, Mike is suing S&S Labor Force Inc and JRM Private Security for false arrest, assault and battery, among other charges, claiming they had "no authority in law" to detain him and "no reason" to suspect him of any crime. "When Plaintiff sought to leave the area, Defendants physically assaulted and battered him to prevent him from leaving by grabbing his arm and telling him to remain there." The lawsuit also notes that the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office "declined to prosecute or charge" Mike following the altercation, therefore recognising that he had not committed any criminal act. In July last year, Mike released a song, Humble Me, that features a verse about his arrest.
