NewsJuly, 13 SZA thrilled by Lizzo's new sense of independence![]() SZA is thrilled to see her friend Lizzo's new sense of confidence and independence. The About Damn Time singer has been working on her self-confidence and self-worth and she has become more independent as a result, something which her good friend SZA recently noticed. "I remember pulling up by myself to see her, and she was like, 'Are you okay? You're always alone now, and you were never alone,'?" Lizzo recalled in an interview with Women's Health. "I was like, 'I'm good. I don't need anybody. I'm here to see you.' And she was like, 'I love this healed version.'?" The Juice hitmaker explained to the publication that she shifted her mindset after meeting a Tibetan monk in Bali in August 2024 and being encouraged to trust herself and stop seeking validation from outside sources. "He was like, 'You worry too much about other people. You need to trust yourself. You need to tell yourself you are incredible, prioritise your ideas, and don't let someone tell you they know what's best for you more than you.' After talking to him, I had this clarity; nothing could shake me anymore," she shared. SZA and Lizzo have been friends since they were on the same tour in 2013, and the Kill Bill hitmaker invited the singer on a trip to Lake Michigan. "And then we just got drunk and hung out, and we kept doing that, and then our lives and careers progressed, and we kept talking and hanging out," she shared with Interview Magazine last month. The stars previously worked together musically on a remix of Lizzo's 2022 song Special, and SZA recently teased that there is an upcoming collaboration in the works.
