New singles shoot straight to top

The only two new singles in the top 40 have rocketed straight to the top of the charts, the Official Charts Company said.

Louder by DJ Fresh featuring Sian Evans shot straight to the coveted number one spot while Loick Essien featuring Tanya Lacey's How We Roll took second place.

Acoustic artist Ed Sheeran crept back up the singles chart with his song The A Team rising three places from sixth last week to third.

Dance act Example slipped to fourth place with Changed The Way You Kiss Me while singer songwriter Jason Derulo, who topped that chart last week, came in fifth place with his hit Don't Wanna Go Home.

Beyonce's single Best Thing I Never Had, was down from third place to sixth, but the R'n'B star could not be disappointed after topping the album chart with 4 for a second week running.

Her single Run The World (Girls), which was released 11 weeks ago, is also still in the top 40 at position 32.

Adele still had two records in the top five of the albums chart, 21 at number two and 19 at number four.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way clung tight to the number three spot while Take That, who have been wowing fans around the UK with a series of live shows, slipped down the album chart by one place with Progress being knocked to number five.

The highest new entry in the album chart was singer Beverley Knight who released Soul UK - which achieved 13th place - as a "celebration" of British soul music.
