Wanted's Max: 1D are no competition
The Wanted's Max George has dismissed rival British boyband One Direction as "no competition" when it comes to conquering the US.
Max and bandmates Siva, Tom, Nathan and Jay are celebrating US success after getting into the Billboard top five with Glad You Came, while young rivals Louis, Harry, Liam, Niall and Zayn of 1D are also trying to crack America.
But Max told The Sun: "Our song is number four in the charts. Maybe when they have a song right next to us in the charts over there, they'll be competition.
"Whenever you see anything about One Direction their fans get a little bit angry. I guess because they're quite young."
Each boyband has a devoted fanbase, quick to defend their pop idols on Twitter.
Max has previously said One Direction were all about looks and not music.
He said: "I'm not sure how well they're actually doing yet. They're more faces, if you know what I mean.
"I think our audience over there is sort of 18 to 25 or 30. We have a lot of radio play but I think we're more of a music band."
