Olympic Park '10.30pm curfew plan'

Bruce Springsteen and other stars could be faced with a 10.30pm curfew when they play at the Olympic Park this summer.

The Olympic Park in Stratford, east London, is to stage six weekends of music and sport as it marks the first anniversary since staging the London 2012 Games.

London Legacy Development Corporation chief executive Dennis Hone said they are working with different bodies, such as music and transport operators, to try and find "sensible arrangements" for the events.

"A 10.30pm shut-down is what we are aiming for," he said. "Our aim is to have a sensible finish so that people can get home."

The Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling - which were previously held in London's Hyde Park - are among the showpiece events in the summer series at the newly-named Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Hard Rock Calling takes place on June 29 and June 30. Kasabian are the main attraction on June 29 while Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band will play on June 30. Paul Weller, Miles Kane, Kodaline, The Black Crowes, Alabama Shakes, The Cribs, Klaxons and Tribes have also been signed up.

Music can be played louder at the Olympic Park than in the central London Hyde Park venue where late concert finishes have drawn noise complaints from residents.

Last July, fans at Hard Rock Calling were left bemused when Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney's microphones were switched off during a duet after a concert over-ran.

The other Olympic Park music events include Mumford And Sons as headline act for The Summer Stampede on July 6. Jay Z and Justin Timberlake will be the star names at the Yahoo! Wireless Festival on July 12-14.

There is also the Electric Daisy Carnival, an electronic music show, on July 20.
